Professor Matt Kuperholz
AI Scientist and Advisor
With over 30 years experience at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, Professor Matt Kuperholz ("M@") is a leading voice in navigating digital disruption. In his opening keynote, M@ will demystify AI, clarifying what it is, what it isn’t, and how local governments can harness it effectively. Crucially, he will explore why Responsible AI must serve as the foundation when tackling complex climate challenges, leaving attendees with practical takeaways on utilising AI and agentic workflows to drive local climate action.
As Principal of Matt Kuperholz Consultancy, M@ brings a wealth of experience assisting government departments and enterprises both in Australia and internationally. Throughout his career, which includes 10 years as Chief Data Scientist at PwC and 8 years as Advanced Analytics Leader at Deloitte, his focus has remained on optimising value for citizens, employees, and society as a whole. M@ was previously Professor of Practice at Deakin Uni's Center for AI and Future of Work, and currently holds an Honorary Enterprise Professorship at the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Business and Economics.
